Dies for the Harvard Tercentenary medallion and medal, 1936.

One large and one small set of metal dies mounted on metal cylinders containing intaglio engravings for the obverse and reverse of the Tercentenary medallions and medals presented during Harvard's Tercentenary celebration in 1936. The designs were created and engraved by A. Graham Carey. The obverse circular design centers on a shield emblazoned with the VERITAS logo across three open books, surrounded by a decorative laurel wreath and palms, and an outer border inscription: "ACADEMIAE·HARVARDIANAE·TRECENTESIMO·MDCCCCXXXVI·ANNO·". The reverse circular design contains the inscription: "1636-1936 / OUT OF SMALLE / BEGINNINGS GREAT / ER THINGS HAVE / BEEN PRODUCED BY HIS / HAND THAT MADE ALL / THINGS OF NOTHING / AND GIVES BEING / TO ALL THINGS / THAT ARE". The small dies are engraved with the number 3136, and the larger dies are engraved with the number 3205 and, in small letters, "Medallic Art Co. NY."

Harvard University celebrated the three-hundredth anniversary of the College's founding in 1936 with an elaborate Tercentenary Celebration.
